Therapy
By Josephina Briceno
Many children with hydrocephalus may have developmental delays, disorders of tone and
movement, feeding and speech difficulties, perceptual motor disturbances and/or
sensory disorders. These difficulties may necessitate parental/child involvement
with pediatric Physical, occupational and/or Speech therapists at some point in the
child's life.
To maximize every child's potential, specialized therapists will closely monitor the
development progression of these children. When signs of difficulties are noticed,
and appropriate and aggressive therapy program should be instituted.
Parental/family involvement will be an important part of the total therapy program.
The integration of the therapy into the child's everyday life will be decisive and a
lasting success.
